Welcome to Freemap. Protecting your privacy is a priority for us. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use and protect it, and what your rights are regarding your personal information.

To provide and improve our service, we collect the following types of data:

• Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your username, email address, and an encrypted password. You can also choose to provide additional profile information, such as a bio, avatar, and banner.

• Location Data: With your permission, we collect your GPS coordinates to display your location on the map, show you nearby resources and users, and enable location sharing features with your friends.

• User Generated Content: We store all data you create and share on the Platform, including tags, activities, store listings, comments, forum posts, private messages, and reviews. This content is associated with your profile.

• Transaction Data: If you sign up for a Freemap+ subscription, our payment partner Stripe processes your payment information. We do not store your credit card details, but we do keep a record of your subscription status.

• Technical Data: We collect basic technical information to ensure the proper functioning and security of the application.

Your data is used to:

• Providing the Service: View your profile, content and location on the map.

• Personalize the Experience: Show you relevant information based on your location.

• Enable Social Features: Manage friends lists, messaging, groups and notifications.

• Ensuring Security: Moderate content, manage reports, and protect the community.

• Communicate with You: Send you important notifications and emails (e.g. password reset).

We never sell your data. Sharing is limited to the following cases:

• With Other Users: Your username, profile, and public content (tags, forum posts, etc.) are visible to other community members.

• With Your Friends: Your location is only shared with friends for whom you have explicitly enabled sharing.

• With our Service Providers: This website no longer provides a database or authentication. Third-party services used by the map application, including Stripe for payments, have their own privacy policies.

This website no longer provides accounts or authentication. For the map application, we follow best practices to protect your data. We retain your information as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data and associated content will be deleted from our systems.

You have the right to access, modify and delete your personal information directly from your profile and settings. You can also delete your account at any time, which will result in the deletion of your data.

We may update this policy. In the event of a major change, we will notify you via an in-app announcement.
